Best (and worst) horse riding experiences.?
I woke up this morning and decided I have a good (two) questions for y’all.

Alright, so what was your BEST and your WORST horse riding experiences? This is just for fun and will choose best answer :D

Best - riding Enzo without ANY tack. (No bridle or saddle or numnah) Cantering off into the sunset, and me promptly falling off.
Worst - I was riding one of the wildest horses at the barn where I stable Enzo, his name is Monty, and what happened what that I asked him to canter and he took off galloping and he soared over a jump,my foot caught caught in the stirrup after I fell off, then he reared up and I fell out, and he ran down the hill and I battled to get up, then I got trampled it may not sound bad but he was thundering up and down, he’s a Clydesdale and uber heavy, and I was knocked out with a fractured shoulder and a cracked skull. I was in a coma for a day, I think. Sometimes when it gets cold, my shoulder freezes up and gets unbearably painful. Certainly a painful reminder of what Monty used to be like. I couldn’t ride for a long while, and when I did I was a tiny bit nervous but Enzo looked after me. After that I began riding Monty again, and he knew I meant business this time. I have only fallen off him once, but that was my fault. Monty is now a current show-goer and favourite of the judges. His show name? Monty Bad Break. As a little reminder of my ‘bad break’ .. :)

And so?
What about YOU?

your bad experience sounds really bad!! im glad ur ok!

My Worst:

Was when i bought a new horse called Troy (the name should have alerted me but nope!) he was a haflinger. He had a split personality and somedays would be lovely and placid, but other days he would turn into a psyco horse. It was horrible as i never knew what he would be like from one day to the next! Anyway the worst experience i had with him was when i got out to the track/road from the yard and started my hack. We made it about 5 minutes down the road when out of nowhere he span on the spot and galloped at full speed down the road, he was slipping and sliding everywhere and i though i was going to die! I was pulling on the reins trying to slow down and he started bucking trying to get me off, (they were massive bucks i really dont know how i stayed on) we then weaved around 3 cars nearly crashing until we got back to the yard gate, he slowed down and i tried to jump off however he went into another bucking fit, again i didnt come off and then he bolted again away from the yard!!! I orginally though he was napping but to then bolt again away from the yard was strange. Again he golloped for only about 10 seconds this time on the road and slipped over and i came off, extremely lucky not to get squashed! (he was a very big strong and muscely horse). One of the people driving who we weaved around had turned their car around and rushed to see if i was ok. They called the air ambulance and they came to get me. I had hurt my lower back very badly and to this day i now have a twisted pelvis and intermittent back pain that i get attended to every few months!! The sickening thing was when i opened my eyes when the ambulance staff came to help me a passer by was holding on to him and he stood their like butter wouldnt melt. I could never bring myself to ride him again and he went to a special home where he could be worked on. I later found out that they couldnt help him ethier and he had later bolted with a lady their who broke her leg riding him when he bolted. I bought him from a dealer thinking i could help, but there was no helping him.

Best

After that i lost all my confidence. All those years of riding as a child had just gone. 2 years after the accident my friend persueded me to buy her cob she was selling and in a 2 year period he managed to build my confidence back. it will never be the same again but the best moment is now with my horse who i now compete with and we have won both a local XC and SJ comps together this year and they have been my best moments overcoming everything that happened!

Best:
Had to be finally getting the confidence to gallop Redd. He’s a TB x so he’s fast as anything, and two years back he threw me 5+ times when my livery first got him. Ended up getting cornered into trying him out two years later and I’ve now had him since June :) He just flows, it’s amazing, I love galloping now thanks to him!
Worst:
At me and Redd’s first show (well, clear round) we were in a field right beside a small track, waiting to go in. Redd was abused when he was younger and certain things just send him nuts, one of them being quadbikes. Some idiot revved up RIGHT beside the field and he just went berserk, twisting, turning, bucking, ANYTHING he could. I managed to stay on (neck straps are lifesavers), but I was so shaken up after, it took me two weeks to get back on him. No injuries surprisingly O.o

I love him though. He’s only six so he’s still learning - wouldn’t trade him for the world :) Beaa. (New Account) | Nov 16, 2009

I haven’t rode horses much…but one time I was being led around on one and whenever we passed a certain place on the road, the horse would balk.
Lynne | Nov 16, 2009

best: I took in a horse from a local rescue, she has not had anyone be able to stay on her even with 180days paid training. she is stubborn and choosy. I got on her in my riding arena after I had her for about 90 days and she was perfect. the rescue was shocked and everyone who had met her. she is now my favorite horse. I love her so much.
worst: one of my husbands horses, he is a wild mustang we adopted about a year ago. I was riding him off our property. when we came back to my property I noticed a tree had fallen in my back woods and I directed him over by it to take a look. I didnt realize my hot wire fence had been knocked down and the live wire got tangled under his back legs. he tipped sideways and rolled I jumped off and tried to untangle the hot wire from 3 of his legs. it was so sad watching him be so terrified. poor guy

What would you do in the following situation?
You are a simple plainsman in a far off "3rd world" country.

Imperialist, capitalist, globalists interests have dumped millions of barrels of toxic waste in your waters, ridding you of your only source of food. YOu have to walk over 15 miles to get clean water. There is no money, no place to go because of imperialists raping the resources of the land. You find out that a powerful country in the west let another country invade you just because they don’t like your way of life.

Would you:
A) Take up arms, defend your humanity and get food and money for your family?

B) Die a painful, undignified death in the face of USA-sponsored terrorism and imperialism
The powerful first world that took your resources also organized, funded, armed, and trained insurgency groups to keep you "in your place". Your children have also been raped and brutalized by them.
Civilian Death toll at the hands of globalist imperialism(mainly from the USA and the regimes they have supported) = over 390 million deaths.
In the early 90’s the ICC was going to give them aid to rebuild, and they would have been able to keep their self determination.

But then the USA slept with Ethiopia and let it go to war with Somalia .
Mckienzie…I would not bring up "moral equivalance" if I were you…seeing that what you mentioned is a response to the United States organizing, funding, and arming insurgency groups that maim, kill, and behead CIVILIANS…burn industries, burn crops, overthrowing DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED leaders, not to mention that Somalia was never a threat to the USA country. What about dumping millions of barrels of toxic waste? PAYING Ethiopia to invade Somalia?

I would do (A)

Most people would probably do (B), since most people here completely misunderstood your question, people in those 3rd world countries wouldn’t understand their situation clearly enough to organize and fight back at the right targets, instead they would attack their fellow citizens

Obama has announced to the world we are weak and no superpower…so who is the evil country you speak of since the U.S. is on longer in the running?
Cliche Buster | Apr 11, 2009

Seriously… underdeveloped Countries should be left to fend for themselves. They should be kept poor I would imagine is your answer!! What do you consider an "imperialist?" The local Warlord of the area… no instead you call the USA!! Wow… I hope you don’t live here in the U.S. & benefit from your so-called "raping" of natural resouces from these people. Do you have an example? Of course not. Has it happened. Of course, but I guess that is what you get in an imperfect world. Please go back to the rock you came out from underneath!!!!!!!!! Slug.

I know where you live at they give you everything for free… but in the "real" World, help ususally costs something. Whether that is time, resources, manpower or whatever it might be. You & Obama live in some UTOPIA that is found nowhere but in your own minds.

Oh, My, GOODNESS!

It’s this attitude of "We are OWED" that is utterly ridiculous!

1) We develop industrial technology, catch the problems with it, actually put out sewage CLEANER than what is out there and CLEANER than is being put out by third world countries (including Middle-Eastern ones), they produce tons of raw sewage because Islamic law isn’t up to stopping it from their OWN companies, their nobility robs the people blind while selling their resources to any country that will buy it, and the Islamic priests protect the nobility and government condemning anyone who speaks up to death!

2) The powerful country in the west LET another country invade? You mean we ARE responsible for stepping in and stopping such things!?
Great! That’s what we did with our ally Kuwait when Iraq invaded them! Glad you support that. We don’t do it unless they ASK for help, but I agree, if they do, we’re there.

3) Of course they take up arms! They’ve been taught to treat all non-Islamic people as second-class, nearly non-human, worthy of lying to, deceiving, etc., because they aren’t of the TRUE religion (read your Quran sometime, it’s all in there and they believe every word, literally).

4) The fact that we are opposed doesn’t make us right and them wrong. They want one thing, we want another. We don’t owe them not to defend ourselves, to react to their threats, or to allow them to continue to attack us with impunity just because they are smaller than us.

5) USA-sponsored terrorism. Let’s just take a good look at the moral equivalence this suggestion makes between the beheading, torture (real kind), raping, stoning, burning, dragging remains through the streets, hiding behind children/schools/mosques, using such buildings as storehouses for weapons, aiming at civilians, firing rocket after rocket into civilian areas deliberately DURING cease-fires, strap-on suicide bombers on buses with children, no uniforms, no Geneva Conventions, no respect for international law terrorists of Islam that are CHEERED by millions in Islam, vs. what the United States has done.

Do YOU see them as the same?

What utter nonsense.

Is this you, folks? Do you believe this tripe? Decides soon, because they DO. They literally believe that ANYTHING is justified in this cause, and your life isn’t worth squat in this battle, even if you "side" with them. They’ll smile nicely, give you the sob story of your life.

Then cut off your head.

And thousands in Islam will cheer.

No, I expect they WILL fight. They’d be stupid not to. If they don’t, their leaders will kill them. Our draft dodgers we make into Presidents.

Maybe they’ve got some good points on their side.

Clear and Present Danger

Clear and Present Danger
Clear and Present Danger (1994)

IMDB rating: 6.70

Plot: Based upon the Tom Clancy novel of the same name, Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst, is thrust right in the middle of a power struggle within the Colombian drug cartel after one of the President’s “life long” friends is murdered, apparently in retaliation for stealing money as part of a money laundering scheme for the cartel. Jack is then appointed acting Deputy Director of Intelligence, CIA, upon the terminal illness of Admiral James Greer, former DDI, and quickly gets in over his head due to his political naivete. The situation rapidly deteriorates when some of the presidents men convince the President to conduct covert actions against the cartel, in direct violation of congress. Felix Cortez, the security chief of Ernesto Escobeda, the “victim” of the missing money, is one of the cartel boss’s. Cortez tries to play both sides, appearing to inform Escobeda about the CIA’s involvement in the covert operations against him, while trying to orchestrate a coup to take over the cartel, with Cortez as it’s sole boss. James Cutter, the President’s National Security Advisor, makes his own deal with Cortez, with the Presidents knowledge, and halts communications to the covert troops still in Colombia, through the Deputy Director of Operations, CIA, Robert Ritter. Ryan ends up going to Colombia to rescue the covet ops troops with the help of field agent John Clark, but not before some fence mending between the two, being that Ritter blamed Ryan for the comm outage, with Clark’s men subsequently being captured by Cortez’s mercenaries.

How good are Tom Clancy novels?
I know that he is one of the renowned writers and all that.I read his Hunt for Red October.A pretty good plot,a good start too but it went off-course during its mid part and got quite lost in the technical issues.I rather thought that the main story got side stepped there.Though I’m a Michael Crichton fan myself,I just can’t put up with the amount of unneeded data clancy puts in his novel.Personally,I like Dirk Pitt novels by Clive Cussler. To me,they are the right blend of action, plot and data. They have some descriptions of ships, cars etc., But they are at least put up in accordance to the plot and does not hinder the flow of the novel. Now,I already have

Clear and present Danger
The Sum of all Fears
Debt of Honor
Without Remorse

and I’m planning to get

Patriot Games
Rainbow Six
Executive Orders and
Red Storm Rising.

Do comment about the credibility of these novels.By now,you could have well figured my taste.Tell me one thing.Does all the books by Clancy I’ve mentioned suffer from same problems.Your answer might help me on deciding on whether or not to get the books or not.

How good are Tom Clancy novels? Pretty darn good, at least until he started mailing his stuff in. The last three of the Ryanverse (The Bear and the Dragon, Red Rabbit and the Teeth of the Tiger) are not so hot.

IMDB rating: 6.30

Plot: Janeane Garofalo plays Dr. Abby Barnes, the “Truth About Cats and Dogs” radio question-and-answer show host who unwittingly entices a listener over the radio with her soothing voice and personality. This listener, Brian, tries to meet the Abby from the radio, but Noelle, played by Uma Thurman, is mistaken for the real thing when Brian comes to the studio. Instead of clearing things up right away, the self-conscious Abby allows her best friend, Noelle, a tall, stunning blonde, to take her place for a while. Abby takes on the made-up persona of Donna, while thinking Brian would never go for her, a short, cute, brunette, who thinks she’s unattractive. As the real Abby woos Brian over the phone and radio, Noelle, the pseudo-Abby, takes her place in the flesh. As time goes on, Abby feels more and more confident that Brian would rather have the beautiful Noelle than the simply attractive Abby.

If you were driving in your vehicle and hit a cat, would you stop?
This morning my cat got hit by a car. It was broad daylight at the time. When it happened I had to be in the house and not known. I had to have him put to sleep because his back was broken.

I just want the truth here, because I’m trying to understand why someone wouldn’t stop and see if the animal had a collar and if so try and find the owner. Or at least call someone to let someone know there animal has been hit. If it was me I would go back. Dog, cat, opossum, whatever I’d go back.
I asked this in this section because my cat was family to me, and because if I put this in the pets section everyone would say they would stop. I don’t want the answers to be biased.
"Administrator" yes I would go back. I am in my last semester to become a Veterinary Technician. Animals are my life. And I have almost hit a dog, then a truck going the other way hit the dog and I stopped and helped the owner look for the dog. So don’t say "Sure you would…." like a smart ass.

One of my VET teachers stopped when she hit a squirrel and brought it home. And after a period of shock it was fine.

And Applezz1 the man who hit that dog stopped too and the owner said it was not his fault, which it wasen’t. Some owners would be angry, but it’s the idea of caring enough to tell them their animal is hurt so it can receive medical treatment.

Yes I would. I’ve stopped at cats that had been hit by someone else, and taken them to the nearest house.

Once my dad hit a dog, and he took it to the nearest house. I’m not so sure about an opossum, but any domesticated animal, yes, I’d go back. I’d like to think any person would stop and take care of it, but some people just don’t.

how to deal with an awkward smile?
i have braces on for about 6 months now and my teeth are pretty straight, nice and clean. However, whenever i smile infront of the mirror, my smile looks extremely awkward.

Whenever i smile, i look very kidish and wierd. i hardly show any teeth when smiling, and a part of my lower teeth are also visible. its like my upper lip covers about half of my teeth.

tried to change my smile to show my full teeth + small part of gums and hide my lower teeth but it comes out very fake and exaggerated. I also have dimples only on my left side, which adds to the awkwardness. Even people who’s teeth are not aligned properly have much better smiles than me.

your ortho treatment is supposed to improve your smile.. by the end of your treatment your smile will become dazzling.. so dont worry.. :) meanwhile, smile with ur heart, let it show in your eyes and no one will notice anything awkward in your smile..:) smile away..:) :) by the way, ur dimple will probably do all the distracting..;p

qoute from inkheart by cornelia funke?
i read inkheart not too long ago and found a quote i really liked, i forgot to write it down before i returned the book to the library. i think it was page 495 or page 456 it was about fire. i would be really grateful if somebody knew them, thanks.

was it one of the quotes at the beginning of a chapter?? because I can’t find it on either of those pages.
Ali | Jan 20, 2010

I think you’ll have to be more specific, if it’s a quote from the start of a chapter, or Corneila Funke’s actual words. Or maybe a hint as to what was going on at the time.

From the Chapter 54 "Fire"

"And then - I have it!" said Bagheera, leaping up. "Go thou down quickly to the men’s huts in the valley, and take some of the Red Flower which they grow there, so that when the time comes thou mayest have even a stronger friend than I or Baloo or those of the Pack that love thee. Get the Red Flower." By the Red Flower Bagheera meant fire, only no creature in the jungle will call fire by its proper name. Every beast loves in deadly fear of it." Not because you don’t trust God… it’s just nice to hear both sides of the story. Isn’t anyone just a little bit curious what the devil has to say? It may be comforting to only watch FOX news… but it’s nice to know the facts sometimes. you know?

he might get pissed at me because i’d tell him to f*ck off and let me talk to the devil and see what he can arrange for a good soul like myself :) hell is probably what you’d consider heaven with all the "city of gold, silver, diamond"… ya…. about that…. isn’t that a little materialistic? seems like temptation to me… i’d say to god "F*uck you, you overly egotistical jack-off, for you have said you loved people yet treated them wickedly… go ahead and send me to hell so i can play blackjack with satan"

Learn the Bible. Yes, God will be mad at you and you would not even be there in heaven. You doubt God. Only real believers go to heaven. The devil won’t be there to be able to talk to. The closest thing to being able to talk to the devil would you be being cast to hell where all the doubting unbelievers go. But I don’t think you will be able to talk to the devil when you are in hell. If you don’t want to wind up in hell with the devil, you ought to turn to the Lord Jesus Christ. Real Christians don’t want to or need to talk to the devil to hear his side of the story. You worship the devil by wanting to hear him.

Why would he do this if he ever cared?
I dated this guy at work for almost a yr. It was back and forth all the time, and no commitment was ever established. He’s 3 yrs younger than me; he was pushy at times and even tried to pressure me into being his girlfriend. I finally got tired of the on / off relation patterns we shared, so I stopped talking to him.

I told him I wanted to remain friends and professional at work, but he told me he can’t be friends with "a waste of time". This really hurt me; even though we never had an official relationship, I didn’t stray or treat him badly. We had a few intense moments but we talked it out and moved past it.

I respect "space" and I think it’s best right now, as much as possible even though we still work in the same place, but I’d eventually like to be his friend. And it really tears me up that he thinks so badly of me, when in reality, I thought we shared more good times than bad.

Why am I feeling this way? I honestly think he’s just being a douche and trying to bring me down. Why would he do this if he cared? I’m just dwelling…

He’s being a douche. You don’t want a douche as a friend, do you?

well , hes probably immature and just doesnt know how to handle his feelings. My ex did a similar thing. Its one thing to be upset, but he should keep those feelings to himself. The thing you have to understand , is he does care, a lot actually. If he didnt, he wouldnt bother being a douche. If he did care, he wouldnt be doing that…instead, hes upset about something and hes acting childish about it. If you really want to be his friend, wait a few months and see if things calm down. And then just confront him about it. Hope that helps.

He’s doing this because he does care. If he didn’t then why would he of tried to make you his girlfriend? he’s trying to cover up his own feelings to make himself think he doesn’t care

a funny thing about relationships … how one half sees it may not be how the other sees it. you really don’t know (or knew) how he felt. you knew he wanted to be committed to you, but you didn’t (to him, that put the idea in his head that he "was just something fun to do until something better came along").

i’m going to be honest … in your position, i wouldn’t hope for a friendship with him down the road, nor would i be surprised if later on you find out he quit to go work somewhere else. i’m sorry to put it that way … but just from what you’ve stated, it seems more like you played him than anything (so yeah, i can understand why he would feel he just wasted a year of his life).
