Best (and worst) horse riding experiences.?
I woke up this morning and decided I have a good (two) questions for y’all.
Alright, so what was your BEST and your WORST horse riding experiences? This is just for fun and will choose best answer
Best - riding Enzo without ANY tack. (No bridle or saddle or numnah) Cantering off into the sunset, and me promptly falling off.
Worst - I was riding one of the wildest horses at the barn where I stable Enzo, his name is Monty, and what happened what that I asked him to canter and he took off galloping and he soared over a jump,my foot caught caught in the stirrup after I fell off, then he reared up and I fell out, and he ran down the hill and I battled to get up, then I got trampled it may not sound bad but he was thundering up and down, he’s a Clydesdale and uber heavy, and I was knocked out with a fractured shoulder and a cracked skull. I was in a coma for a day, I think. Sometimes when it gets cold, my shoulder freezes up and gets unbearably painful. Certainly a painful reminder of what Monty used to be like. I couldn’t ride for a long while, and when I did I was a tiny bit nervous but Enzo looked after me. After that I began riding Monty again, and he knew I meant business this time. I have only fallen off him once, but that was my fault. Monty is now a current show-goer and favourite of the judges. His show name? Monty Bad Break. As a little reminder of my ‘bad break’ ..
And so?
What about YOU?
your bad experience sounds really bad!! im glad ur ok!
My Worst:
Was when i bought a new horse called Troy (the name should have alerted me but nope!) he was a haflinger. He had a split personality and somedays would be lovely and placid, but other days he would turn into a psyco horse. It was horrible as i never knew what he would be like from one day to the next! Anyway the worst experience i had with him was when i got out to the track/road from the yard and started my hack. We made it about 5 minutes down the road when out of nowhere he span on the spot and galloped at full speed down the road, he was slipping and sliding everywhere and i though i was going to die! I was pulling on the reins trying to slow down and he started bucking trying to get me off, (they were massive bucks i really dont know how i stayed on) we then weaved around 3 cars nearly crashing until we got back to the yard gate, he slowed down and i tried to jump off however he went into another bucking fit, again i didnt come off and then he bolted again away from the yard!!! I orginally though he was napping but to then bolt again away from the yard was strange. Again he golloped for only about 10 seconds this time on the road and slipped over and i came off, extremely lucky not to get squashed! (he was a very big strong and muscely horse). One of the people driving who we weaved around had turned their car around and rushed to see if i was ok. They called the air ambulance and they came to get me. I had hurt my lower back very badly and to this day i now have a twisted pelvis and intermittent back pain that i get attended to every few months!! The sickening thing was when i opened my eyes when the ambulance staff came to help me a passer by was holding on to him and he stood their like butter wouldnt melt. I could never bring myself to ride him again and he went to a special home where he could be worked on. I later found out that they couldnt help him ethier and he had later bolted with a lady their who broke her leg riding him when he bolted. I bought him from a dealer thinking i could help, but there was no helping him.
Best
After that i lost all my confidence. All those years of riding as a child had just gone. 2 years after the accident my friend persueded me to buy her cob she was selling and in a 2 year period he managed to build my confidence back. it will never be the same again but the best moment is now with my horse who i now compete with and we have won both a local XC and SJ comps together this year and they have been my best moments overcoming everything that happened!

Best:
Had to be finally getting the confidence to gallop Redd. He’s a TB x so he’s fast as anything, and two years back he threw me 5+ times when my livery first got him. Ended up getting cornered into trying him out two years later and I’ve now had him since June
Worst:
At me and Redd’s first show (well, clear round) we were in a field right beside a small track, waiting to go in. Redd was abused when he was younger and certain things just send him nuts, one of them being quadbikes. Some idiot revved up RIGHT beside the field and he just went berserk, twisting, turning, bucking, ANYTHING he could. I managed to stay on (neck straps are lifesavers), but I was so shaken up after, it took me two weeks to get back on him. No injuries surprisingly O.o
I love him though. He’s only six so he’s still learning - wouldn’t trade him for the world

I haven’t rode horses much…but one time I was being led around on one and whenever we passed a certain place on the road, the horse would balk.

best: I took in a horse from a local rescue, she has not had anyone be able to stay on her even with 180days paid training. she is stubborn and choosy. I got on her in my riding arena after I had her for about 90 days and she was perfect. the rescue was shocked and everyone who had met her. she is now my favorite horse. I love her so much.
worst: one of my husbands horses, he is a wild mustang we adopted about a year ago. I was riding him off our property. when we came back to my property I noticed a tree had fallen in my back woods and I directed him over by it to take a look. I didnt realize my hot wire fence had been knocked down and the live wire got tangled under his back legs. he tipped sideways and rolled I jumped off and tried to untangle the hot wire from 3 of his legs. it was so sad watching him be so terrified. poor guy
